One of the things I like about typepad is the ability to see from what other sites people are getting to yours. The most facinating ones are the hits to this blog from people doing web searches via Google. I'm getting a number of hits from people googling "pimp my ride" and "pimp my laptop" which I find very funny.
I just noticed someone googled "church nursery checkin software" and got to my blog...which I just looked and somehow I'm the top result. I've also noticed today several hits from people googling "Jason Powell". I googled my name over a month ago and didn't even show up on the first 4 result pages...how are people finding this blog? I just googled " Jason Powell " and to my surprise this blog is the #3 result! Of course I wonder if the people googling Jason Powell are looking for me or Jason Powell the psychic medium (who's ranked #1) ... and if they are looking for me should I be worried ...doh! :-)
I've gotten several hits coming from people googling "80's hit songs"...which this blog is returned as the #5 result. How can this be? Yes, I did post something about 80's hit songs, but it was one post and just a few days ago. How did I end up #5?
I find it rather strange that this blog, which has only been around a month, is getting such high search results on things I've only mentioned in the blog maybe once or twice. And it's not like this is a high traffic blog either...according to Typepad's stats I'm only averaging about 30 hits a day.
Brian Bailey had mentioned in a post that his ranking had actually went way down recently do to changes Google had made in how they rank blogs. Perhaps Google has made some new changes because my blog is certainly getting more limelight than I expect. Although I must admit, it feels pretty kewl to have your blog ranked so high :-)
