Amazon.com has got the 40hr Tivo unit for $20 after rebate. Pretty sweet deal. Then buy yourself a 320GB hard drive for $138 and follow my upgrade directions and you'll have more room to record stuff than you'll know what to do with :-)
Jason over at bnpositive got his new Tivo update before I did ... lucky dawg! :-)
He's got a great rundown of all the new features. Tivo appears to really be trying to do everything they can to overcome the onslaught of all the other DVR options. The ONLY thing I think Tivo MUST do is get a dual tuner model out NOW! I'm half way tempted to get one of those $20 Tivo's just so I can record to shows at once.
I think it is atrocious that they do not have the dual tuner yet. I'm assuming (hoping) they'll include it in the next series.

I'd like to thank you for posting the Amazon deal. I am now the proud owner of a Tivo (welcome to the late early 2000's!). I can't believe I have gone this long without one, but I finally took the plunge. For 20 bucks, you can't really go wrong. Next I'll be doing the drive upgrade as well, so thanks for the work on that post too!

Yeah! I was surprised I got that lucky too. I think I waited months before my system got updated for the Home Network options.
I just upgraded my Comcast account back to digital cable with HD channels (gotta watch the Colts win the Super Bowl in HD!) With the HD channel upgrade, it was cheaper to go ahead and get the Comcast DVR solution as well. I had originally thought they had the dual-tuner solution, but it's not. It does record in HD though.
So, I'm going to do some side-by-side comparisons of Comcast DVR w/ TiVo. I have a feeling TiVo will win out, but not sure if it will win out enough to continue paying the $12.95/mnth for it too. I'm very curious as to how the new Comcast/TiVo marketing partnership is going to take off in 2006.
