Do The Shuffle
It's been a while since I've done this (prior post here and here )...take your music device of choice, turn the shuffle on and list the first 15 songs that play. I find it interesting to see what people have in their music library ... gives you a small window into their world and sometimes produces some good laughs ... or better yet good tunes you have forgotten about.
So here we go ... Yahoo Music Engine spitting out 15 shuffled songs from my library...
Smithereens - A Girl Like You
Newsboys - He Reigns
Matt Redman - Because of You There's a Place
Audio Adrenaline - I'm Alive
Flyleaf - Sorrow
Third Day - Show Me Your Glory
Tait - Reconnecting (makes me miss DC Talk)
Steven Curtis Chapman - Treasure of You
Rod Stewart - As Time Goes By
David Crowder Band - Wonderful King
Nickelback - Never Again (I remember the first time I heard this song...made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end!)
Ozzy Osbourne - Mama, I'm Coming Home (doh! How'd that get in there?)
Delirious? - Fires Burn
Need to Breathe - I Won't Look Back
Sting - Message In A Bottle
Hmmm, aside from Ozzy and maybe Rod Stewart that's a pretty normal/tame sampling of my library. Yes, I have 2 Ozzy songs in my library - Coming Home and No More Tears. I enjoy the guitar tone Zak (their guitarist) pumps out ... especially on No More Tears ... crunchy with a capital C!
I'm bummed no classic 80's stuff appeared 'cept Sting. There's always next time :-)
Your turn ... post your 15 random tunes...no cheating!
At great risk of opening myself up, I really don't think anything classic came from the 80's. ;-}
Evanescence - Bring Me To Life
Electric Light Orchestra - It's Over
Maranatha Promise Band - If My People
Robin Trower - Spellbound (Live)
Barlow Girl - On My Own
Rod Stewart - Mandolin Wind
Judas Priest - Exciter
Doobie Brothers - Long Train Running
Stacie Orrico - Maybe I Won't Look Back
Ides Of March - Vehicle
J. Geils Band - Pack Fair and Square
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - 4 Way Street
Third Day - Consuming Fire
Babe Ruth - Jack O'Lantern
Grand Funk Railroad - Heartbreaker (Live)

My music taste is all over the board. I listen to as much current secular as I do Christian. I'm surprised that I didn't have to much 80's stuff in the mix, there is plenty here. Here they are, fresh from Windows Media Player v. 11:
David Crowder Band- D Part: We Win!
Lo Fidelty All Stars- Battleflag (Radio Edit)
Hoobastank- Crawling in the Dark
Passion Worship Band- Praise to The Lord, The Almighty
Chemical Brothers- Electronic Battle Weapon 7
David Crowder Band- You Alone
Chris Tomlin- All Slow Down
Derek Webb- Mockingbird (GREAT album!)
Herbie Hancock- Stitched Up
Jars of Clay- Lonely People
311- Mixed Up
Rob Bell- Between the Trees (sermon from Willow Creek)
George Winston- Linus and Lucy
Paul Oakenfold- The Spirit
Blur- Song 2

Don't be Sad - Dwight Yoakam
Easy - Cowboy Mouth
Eye of the Tiger - Paul Anka
Harmonica Rockin' - Muddy Waters
I Could not ask for more - Sara Evens
Jump - Van Halen
Let it Be - Nick Cave
Livin' it up - Jimmy Buffett
Love is here to stay - Frank Sinatra
Blue Christmas - Harry Connick Jr.
Mamma Don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys - Waylon Jennings
Mission Impossible theme - Limp Bizkit
Roadhouse Blues - Stone Temple Pilots
Margarittaville - Jimmy Buffett
This is a fun game. But, come on, everyone has got to cheat a little, when a song by Britney Spears or 'N Sync shows up, you don't skip that one? I think it would be interesting if people would scan a random generated list and post the first song that they are embarrassed to have living on their PC.
i.e. Hit me baby one more time - Britney Spears
(a random example in no way pertaining to my personal experience)

I'm one of those guys that has their entire music collection ripped onto the hard drive. I don't like digging through CD's, and iTunes makes it terribly easy to look for what I want to hear.
So...out of about 12GB of music, here's what I got. :-)
Brave - Nichole Nordeman
From Above - Burlap To Cashmere
Heaven Came Down - David Crowder Band
Maximum Overdrive - 2 Unlimited (yay for 90's dance)
Supersonic - Family Force 5 (brand new stuff!)
A Sunday - Jimmy Eat World
Get On - Third Day
On The Run - Pink Floyd
Mephistophele's Return - Trans-Siberian Orchestra
You Already Take Me There - Switchfoot
Don't Look Back - John Schlitt
Mary Antoinette - Hokus Pick
Sanctuary - Chris Rodriguez
Pandora's Box - The O.C. Supertones
Jason E - The W's
Hmm... not exactly what I listen to on a regular basis. Like Matt, my taste is all over the place as far as music goes. Maybe I should pull 15 songs from my "Top Rated" list. ;-)
