Don't Forget the 'Church' in Church IT

David Drinnon recently shared some excellent thoughts that us church IT folks should chew on.

Here's a small excerpt ...

"Our goal as IT professionals is not to save the church money, nor is it to maintain 100% uptime on our servers. Church IT is not about an efficient Help Desk or network. Our goal as Church IT professionals is to partner with the pastoral leadership to implement technologies that affect the bottom line…changed lives for Jesus Christ."

... "I believe our time together at the roundtables would be greatly benefited by discussing our respective models for church growth and how we are leveraging technology towards that end."

... "Let our discussions not begin and end with hardware and software, but let us seek to learn from one another the processes that drive our individual church growth models. In understanding the processes of our respective environments, we are empowered to help improve and potentially reengineer the processes within our own church. After all, the good technology solutions are those that facilitate and scale with the ministry processes of our staff and leaders."

Can you tell David was a pastor before becoming an IT guy? :-)
