David Drinnon has a great post on people vs. policies and IT. This is required reading for my team ... so you might want to check it out as well :-)

They are rules driven, black and white, and often misunderstand the consequences of their own rules on the mission of the organization. Ahh yes, the classic IT struggles. Many of you already know my bent towards wanting to find a way to give everyone local admin rights without creating a support nightmare ... well, Monday I made a big decision in that regards that could come back to bite me down the road ... more on that in a future post ;-)
Lemme guess what you did on Monday -- most/all users are now local Administrators?

I fully agree with you, Jason. In fact, I wrote a blog about this following the IT Roundtable (see http://ministry-it.blogspot.com/2007/09/local-admin-or-not.html). Then I developed it into an article that's been published and re-printed a few times (see http://www.mbsinc.com/component/option,com_docman/Itemid,105/task,doc_download/gid,136/).
Keep us posted on how it goes!
