Saturday was National Scrapbooking Day ... and my wife (who's a Creative Memories consultant) and a friend hosted a huge bash at our home. Our house was croppin' HQ for 20 some women over 17 hours (Fri night and all day Sat). The kids and I were banished from the house 5-8pm Friday night and all day Saturday...though we did sneak in around 4pm Sat and watched movies up in my bedroom.
I couldn't do anything online as each PC in the house (2 laptops, 1 desktop) sans the server and PC in the garage was running internet radio feeds in the different rooms. "Big Hit's of the 80's" could be heard from anywhere in the house...which was good since every room in the main level was utilized.
They were having a great time...laughing, sharing, bonding...it got me thinking about how easy women seem to make friends and how hard it is typically for us guys. My wife has a gift for being able to have conversation with just about anyone...while I usually struggle. I must be missing the "small talk" and "chit chat" genes.
It was a good reminder for me to continue to work at building authentic relationships...to go deeper...or as Erwin McManus would probably say, "Be more Barbarian!"
